Poco X8 Pro Max - Privacy-Hardened Media Device Guide

A comprehensive guide for transforming the Poco X8 Pro Max into a privacy-respecting, quality-optimized media consumption device with debloated HyperOS, audio/display enhancements, and surveillance removal.

🎯 Project Goal

Create a high-quality media consumption device that:

  • ✅ Removes Xiaomi surveillance and tracking
  • ✅ Debloats unnecessary system apps
  • ✅ Optimizes audio quality (hi-res audio, Magisk modules)
  • ✅ Enhances display (vivid colors, color profiles)
  • ✅ Maintains privacy (microG for location services)
  • ✅ Uses open-source apps where possible

⚠️ Important Warnings

  • Data Loss: Bootloader unlocking erases all data. Back up everything first.
  • Warranty: This process may void your device warranty.
  • Rooting Risk: Incorrect Magisk setup can cause issues. Follow instructions carefully.
  • Official Support: Once modified, you lose OTA updates and official support.

Prerequisites

  • USB cable (reliable, good quality recommended)
